Lead Phlebotomist - Laredo, TX

Lead phlebotomy role supporting plasma donation operations in Laredo, Texas. Operate plasmapheresis equipment while protecting donor safety, regulatory compliance, and product quality.

Description

  • Assess donor eligibility for plasmapheresis before venipuncture
  • Manage donor reactions in accordance with established guidelines
  • Monitor donors and equipment to protect donor well-being and product quality
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis equipment
  • Investigate autopheresis machine alerts and record exceptions accurately
  • Support calibration and maintenance of autopheresis machines and related equipment
  • Disconnect and safely discard contaminated single-use equipment
  • Clean equipment and donation areas between donors
  • Keep production documentation accurate and protect donor confidentiality
  • Establish positive donor relationships that encourage satisfaction and continued participation
  • Follow state and federal requirements, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and company procedures
  • Escalate unsafe conditions to the area lead, supervisor, or manager
  • Work in other trained areas to support efficient center operations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Obtain applicable state licenses or certifications as required
  • Typically, two years of related experience are expected
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to listen to and comprehend spoken information and ideas
  • Ability to communicate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Ability to remain standing for six to eight hours per day
  • Ability to perform frequent movements involving the hands, fingers, wrists, and feet
  • Ability to make precise, coordinated movements for grasping and manipulating objects
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds, with a maximum lifting requirement of 50 pounds
  • Hearing acuity is essential
  • Correctable near and far vision with color perception and discrimination; vision must reach 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other
  • Ability to work with biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
