Lead Electrical Design Engineer, Robinson Nuclear Plant (Hybrid)

Lead electrical design work for Duke Energy’s Robinson Nuclear Plant in support of fleet modernization, safety, testing, and field implementation. Develop engineering changes and provide technical guidance across nuclear plant projects.

Description

  • Define the scope, technical basis, installation requirements, and testing criteria for electrical design changes
  • Provide engineering judgment and direction to identify, evaluate, and resolve increasingly complex issues
  • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and track assigned work
  • Produce technical reports, correspondence, project documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Perform engineering studies and deliver routine and complex projects with limited supervision
  • Design, operate, and maintain electrical systems that have a moderate effect on existing plant systems
  • Oversee project schedules and coordinate project interfaces
  • Organize work activities while maintaining complete and accurate records
  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Assume departmental manager duties when the manager is unavailable
  • Advance company objectives and represent Duke Energy in a professional manner
  • Perform plant system walkdowns and provide field support during modification implementation

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience at a nuclear power plant
  • Eight or more years of engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer
  • A master’s degree in engineering may substitute for the required bachelor’s engineering degree
  • Lead-level nuclear qualification through Professional Engineer registration, a master’s degree in a technical discipline, SRO certification, an RO or SRO license, or Technical Nuclear certification
  • Eligibility to obtain nuclear-site unescorted access and security clearance
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the United States without current or future employment-based immigration sponsorship
  • Working knowledge of ETAP software
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity control practices used in the nuclear industry
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to meet potential Emergency Response Organization duties, callouts, on-call rotations, and Fit for Duty requirements
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel and 5–15% travel
  • Availability for additional hours during scheduled refueling outages
