Lead Analytics Engineer – Atlanta Hybrid

Lead analytics engineering at Hiscox USA by advancing insurance data, analytics, and AI capabilities. Drive data engineering practices, innovation initiatives, governance, training, and cross-functional delivery.

Description

  • Lead data and analytics technology initiatives across multiple cross-functional teams
  • Support access to and analysis of organizational data and information
  • Own, oversee, and measure the effective use of analytics and intelligence data
  • Build and manage innovation labs for testing data products, tools, and methodologies
  • Investigate emerging data and analytics trends and assess their business relevance
  • Develop and maintain US Data Learning & Development materials in the Learning Hub
  • Create and deliver training, cross-skilling, and upskilling programs
  • Lead, mentor, and develop data specialists and engineering team members
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and data solution designs with stakeholders
  • Plan projects with leadership, stakeholders, and product owners or managers, covering solution design, infrastructure, and estimates
  • Build and maintain data models and context layers that support self-service analytics and AI
  • Advise engineering teams and business users on data-related matters
  • Resolve complex business, design, and technical challenges from strategy through implementation
  • Analyze and validate data to maintain accuracy and integrity
  • Advance data governance, engineering best practices, and consistent development methods
  • Improve code reuse, simplify implementations, address technical debt, and tune performance
  • Participate in design discussions and perform code and release reviews
  • Document expertise and grow the team knowledge repository
  • Carry out quality-control and record-keeping processes
  • Handle daily technical issues and report risks or concerns to management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline
  • At least eight years of progressive experience spanning data management, analytics, solution architecture, cloud platforms, data warehousing or lakehouse concepts, data modeling, and/or data engineering
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex, high-quality data solutions
  • Strategic data initiative leadership, innovation-environment experience, and cross-functional project management expertise
  • Experience treating data as a product and applying business intelligence practices, including governance, quality, lineage, catalogs, visualization, and storytelling
  • Advanced self-service analytics and visualization experience with tools such as Power BI
  • Strong SQL, data modeling and warehousing, and applied AI capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge of dbt, SSIS, ETL, ELT, APIs, streaming, relational and non-relational data, JSON, XML, Python, R, PowerShell, and JavaScript
  • Strong expertise in the insurance domain
  • Experience creating and delivering training programs, learning and development content, and cross-skilling initiatives
  • Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Professional presence with the ability to achieve strategic outcomes and business value
  • Experience working with Agile frameworks and methodologies
  • Strategic and innovative mindset with the ability to turn business strategy into data and analytics initiatives
  • Exceptional leadership and coaching capability
  • Change management expertise, with availability to work two days per week from the Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hartford, or Manhattan office.
