Lead Analytics Consultant - UK Remote

Lead the creation of reusable Python-based analytical products for Howden, a global insurance group. Build decision-support tools for Employee Benefits while collaborating with a distributed consulting and analytics team.

Description

  • Partner with senior leaders and client-facing colleagues to identify commercial questions and turn insights into practical products
  • Manage analytical product delivery from early discovery through production adoption
  • Drive the creation of reusable components, libraries, frameworks, templates, and team practices
  • Develop configurable, well-documented, maintainable products that can be reused and handed over effectively
  • Follow and contribute to software development lifecycle and governance standards
  • Review colleagues’ work and help advance their technical capabilities
  • Keep delivery progressing as business priorities evolve
  • Collaborate with the distributed Strategic Data & Analytics team and stakeholders, mainly through Teams

Requirements

  • Bring a consulting mindset and enthusiasm for solving varied business problems
  • Use data, analytics, and visualisation to help senior leaders make stronger decisions
  • Explain technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Take accountability for decisions, actions, and deliverables
  • Work comfortably with uncertainty, changing priorities, incomplete information, and ambiguity
  • Collaborate effectively in a distributed team using Teams as the primary channel
  • Have taken multiple analytical products from an incomplete brief through to sustained use
  • Have built reusable components adopted by colleagues
  • Have supported, adapted, and maintained analytical products after release
  • Bring substantial experience developing analytical products in Python
  • Have practical experience with several of Python, Shiny for Python, Quarto, git, Azure DevOps, Docker, and Terraform, or comparable tools such as R, Shiny, tidyverse, Streamlit, Dash, or scientific and quantitative computing
  • Be able to build, read, write, debug, review, and explain code without AI coding agents
  • Have prior experience building analytical products; this should not be your first such role
  • Experience in Employee Benefits, Pensions, or Insurance is not required
