Junior Remote Design Consultant – Retail Bank Construction Projects
Support design coordination for retail bank construction projects at Turner & Townsend, working with consultants, stakeholders, and project teams. The role covers design reviews, budgets, permits, architectural briefs, and construction administration.
Description
- Act as the main contact for design oversight and strategic coordination across the project lifecycle.
- Oversee architects, engineers, specialty contractors, and other external design consultants from appointment through construction administration.
- Verify that design deliverables meet client branding, functional, and sustainability requirements.
- Review designs at key milestones against project briefs and technical specifications.
- Lead value-engineering activities while protecting design quality and integrity.
- Identify potential design-schedule delays early and coordinate mitigation measures.
- Bring internal stakeholders, project managers, and design teams together to resolve complex technical issues.
- Maintain documentation for permit applications and regulatory submissions.
- Advocate for client interests during design meetings.
- Create and present architectural briefs informed by business and stakeholder needs.
- Monitor consultant deliverables for accuracy, transparency, and accessibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation program, or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- NCIDQ certification or architectural registration is preferred.
- One to five years of experience in commercial design, construction, or project management.
- Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret complex business and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Advanced understanding of financial concepts, including budget analysis and project cost tracking.
- Ability to deliver clear, persuasive presentations on complex subjects to clients, management, and project teams.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with external consultants and internal stakeholder groups.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning requirements, and standard industry procurement practices.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on company policies and business practices.
