Insurance Counselor I - Denver Hybrid

Insurance Counselor I helping DaVita dialysis patients understand health insurance options, coverage, and financial assistance. The role provides education, advocacy, and customer support across Denver-area facilities.

Description

  • Educate DaVita patients about health insurance options and their potential implications
  • Help patients evaluate insurance choices and make informed employment and coverage decisions
  • Deliver patient insurance education within established compliance guidelines
  • Identify and communicate ways to improve patients’ insurance status and limit financial risk
  • Support patients in locating or obtaining insurance coverage and financial assistance programs
  • Provide customer service across multiple DaVita dialysis facilities
  • Complete insurance assessments and evaluations while documenting patient education sessions
  • Coordinate with patients, facility teammates, billing offices, and corporate offices to resolve insurance matters
  • Develop and maintain relationships with field partners
  • Collaborate with the supervisor or manager to achieve objectives, meet deadlines, and complete reporting requirements
  • Prepare monthly reports and analyze patient education and advocacy metrics
  • Take part in monthly operations reviews
  • Recommend opportunities to improve processes
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training sessions
  • Support onboarding and training for new teammates as needed

Requirements

  • Full COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical or religious exemption is required
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must live in Denver, Colorado, or the surrounding area
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • High-speed internet with a minimum of 40 GB
  • A private workspace
  • Reliable transportation to DaVita facilities
  • At least two years of experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans and benefits, including PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, and indemnity plans, is strongly preferred
  • At least two years of experience in a healthcare organization working with clinical staff and patients is preferred
  • Intermediate computer proficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required
  • Bilingual Spanish-language skills are strongly preferred
