Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) Engineer

Protect classified systems at Mission Technologies, a division of HII, by managing RMF security documentation and controls. Support certification, audits, compliance reviews, and security investigations in an onsite Hampton, Virginia role.

Description

  • Prepare and update security plans, risk assessments, user guides, and POA&Ms for classified information systems.
  • Help certify and accredit classified information system networks.
  • Complete system audits in line with applicable standards and customer requirements.
  • Review system changes and evaluate their security impact.
  • Verify that required security procedures are followed.
  • Maintain software patch records and audit files to meet customer requirements.
  • Oversee media controls, antivirus updates, and hardware and software controls in secure environments.
  • Deliver information security briefings, education, and training.
  • Conduct periodic program self-inspections and check compliance with government regulations.
  • Investigate security violations, coordinate response efforts, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Provide backup support to other security staff as needed.
  • Carry out other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience and education: 2 years with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, no experience with a related master’s degree, or 6 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Broad knowledge of security disciplines.
  • Operational experience with Windows and Linux systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience administering security responsibilities.
  • Experience with RMF, NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and NISPOM.
  • Experience with STIGs, SCAP, SCC, vulnerability scanning, and SIEM logging tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organized and attentive to detail.
  • Security+ certification required; CISSP preferred.
  • Knowledge of Access Commander or SIMS is a plus.
  • Networking and access control knowledge is a plus.
  • SIPRNet experience is a plus.
  • COMSEC experience is a plus.
  • Secret security clearance required.
