Implementation Engineer - Renewable Energy (Houston Hybrid)

Lead the onboarding of solar, wind, and battery assets to Power Factors’ Unity APM platform. Configure connectivity, KPIs, alarms, and customer performance data while supporting technical validation and testing.

Description

  • Lead the technical onboarding of renewable energy assets, coordinating with the PS Project Manager on scope, schedules, customer expectations, execution, and quality
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers throughout the onboarding process
  • Convert site-specific hierarchy, tagging, and connectivity needs into configurations within the Unity APM SaaS platform
  • Set up and troubleshoot site-to-platform connectivity across on-premises historian and SCADA systems, cloud APIs, and file-based data ingestion
  • Configure asset structures, KPI calculations, and alarm rules for solar PV, wind, and battery storage systems
  • Assess signal quality and calculation accuracy through organized site testing
  • Investigate and triage missing data, abnormal values, incorrectly configured tags, and inaccurate KPI results
  • Guide customers through user acceptance testing, communicate performance findings, and address discrepancies
  • Help improve internal implementation processes, tools, and data quality practices

Requirements

  • Technical degree in engineering, energy systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least three years of relevant experience with renewable energy asset concepts, including performance ratio, capacity factor, availability, curtailment, and fundamental AC/DC electrical principles
  • Ability to interpret time-series sensor data and recognize anomalies, gaps, and calculation issues
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, including confidence leading technical customer discussions
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Analytical approach and ability to learn unfamiliar technical areas quickly
  • Hands-on experience with asset performance management or comparable energy monitoring and control platforms
  • Working knowledge of networking and protocols, including secure site connectivity such as IPsec tunnels
  • Experience with Linux, Windows networking, and SQL databases
  • Proficiency with Python or Bash scripting and structured formats including JSON, XML, Excel, and CSV
  • Familiarity with on-premises historian and datalogger integrations, such as N3uron and Campbell Scientific Loggernet, plus industrial protocols including OPC, Modbus, and IEC 104
  • Experience establishing cloud-to-cloud connections and REST API integrations
  • Experience with AWS or another cloud platform
  • Ability to interpret electrical single-line diagrams and network architecture diagrams
  • Exposure to solar or wind operations and maintenance workflows or revenue-grade metering concepts
