Full-Stack Engineer 4, Cyber Identity Security — Capital One (Onsite)

Lead full-stack engineering for distributed microservices and cloud-based cyber identity security systems at Capital One. Guide Agile teams, technical standards, architecture, and performance improvements.

Description

  • Lead a portfolio of technology projects and developers working on distributed microservices and full-stack systems
  • Design solutions that satisfy Capital One’s regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and engage with internal and external technology communities
  • Mentor members of the engineering community
  • Work with digital product managers to deliver resilient cloud solutions supporting millions of Americans’ financial empowerment
  • Develop with Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services
  • Provide technical direction across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence
  • Collaborate with architects on service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
  • Drive targeted refactoring, reduce technical debt, and improve system performance
  • Shape long-term technology strategy by assessing emerging tools and practices in a you-build-it-you-own-it environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • At least four years of software engineering experience; internships do not count
  • At least two years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
  • Capital One does not provide employer-sponsored immigration or work authorization support
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Preferred: Seven or more years of coding experience with at least two of JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
  • Preferred: Three or more years of experience with databases and database management systems
  • Preferred: Three or more years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
  • Preferred: Four or more years of experience contributing to open-source frameworks
  • Preferred: Three or more years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks
  • Preferred: Four or more years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs
  • Preferred: Three or more years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks
  • Preferred: Three or more years of experience using Git-based version control systems
  • Preferred: Three or more years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments
  • Experience with modern AI coding tools and IDE copilots
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience mentoring engineers and supporting professional development within technical teams
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience using observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems
  • Experience with interactive AI tools beyond basic code completion
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering work or large-scale technical initiatives
  • Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams
