Fire Services Engineer at DayOne - Batam, Indonesia

Manage fire protection systems, regulatory compliance, maintenance, and emergency response across DayOne’s high-performance data centers. This onsite role is based at the Batam NDP Campus.

Description

  • Lead the design, installation, and upkeep of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, alarms, suppression equipment, and emergency lighting.
  • Keep fire systems operational and aligned with applicable local, national, and international safety standards.
  • Carry out routine inspections and functional tests of fire protection systems.
  • Verify that fire safety measures meet health, safety, environmental, and industry-practice requirements.
  • Keep fire safety system and procedure records ready for audits and inspections.
  • Complete risk assessments and prepare fire safety plans, evacuation procedures, and emergency response protocols.
  • Schedule and deliver maintenance and testing activities with external contractors.
  • Diagnose and correct faults affecting fire protection systems.
  • Track system performance and propose necessary upgrades or enhancements.
  • Work closely with the Building Services Manager, operations personnel, and external contractors.
  • Train and advise employees on fire safety practices and emergency procedures.
  • Take part in fire drills and emergency readiness exercises.
  • Provide technical support during fire alarms and other emergency events.
  • Investigate fire incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Fluent English communication skills.
  • At least five years of fire protection engineering experience in large-scale facilities such as data centers, commercial buildings, or industrial sites.
  • Strong understanding of sprinkler, fire alarm, and suppression systems.
  • Working knowledge of applicable fire safety codes and regulations, including NFPA and local building codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance schedules, perform inspections, and maintain safety compliance.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to act promptly during emergencies.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • CFPS or an equivalent fire protection certification is highly desirable.
