EMC Consultant - Bristol Hybrid

Develop EMC strategies, controls, and testing for regulated, safety-critical engineering programmes. Support defence, transport, energy transition, and renewable projects through Frazer-Nash.

Description

  • Define verification and validation strategies covering pre-compliance, compliance, and regression testing
  • Create risk assessment methods and mitigation approaches
  • Support new and legacy product and platform designs with Control Plans
  • Assess engineering work against current Control Plans through gap analysis
  • Create Test Plans to quantify engineering activities
  • Help coordinate desktop audits of EMC documentation
  • Evaluate project achievements, change proposals, and test reports
  • Serve as an independent EMC auditor during audits and compliance reviews
  • Contribute to EMC effects discussions and risk assessments
  • Assist with test planning activities
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Support knowledge management initiatives
  • Provide end-to-end consultancy across defence, transport, energy transition, and renewable projects

Requirements

  • Experience working in regulated sectors such as automotive, aerospace, medical, or defence
  • Experience implementing EMC governance frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory and its application to electrical or electronic systems through Design for EMC
  • Understanding of process and system controls used to achieve compliance
  • Understanding of technical and detailed design controls used to achieve compliance
  • Experience working with defence regulations, including DEFSTAN and JSP, and civilian UKCA requirements
  • Ability to convert regulatory requirements into practical engineering controls
  • Experience creating and reviewing EMC strategies, plans, and deliverables
  • Hands-on circuit-level or system-level Design for EMC experience
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
  • Leadership or consultancy experience
  • Ability to meet UK National Security Vetting clearance criteria
  • Willingness to complete pre-employment screening
