Embedded Linux Developer - Krakow Onsite

Develop and maintain Yocto-based embedded Linux platforms for SKIDATA access-control hardware. Work with ARM-based systems and collaborate with ASSA ABLOY engineering teams in Austria.

Description

  • Build and maintain SKIDATA’s custom Yocto-based embedded Linux distribution.
  • Develop software for CPU modules based on NXP i.MX6, NXP i.MX8M Plus, and NVIDIA Tegra ARM SoCs.
  • Support embedded Linux platforms used in SKIDATA access-control products across mountain, sports and entertainment, and parking and mobility markets.
  • Work independently from the Kraków-area site.
  • Partner closely with the broader engineering team in Austria.
  • Investigate payment discrepancies and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and maintain accurate ledger balances.

Requirements

  • Extensive Yocto Project experience covering layers, recipes, BSP customization, BitBake internals, SDK generation, devtool workflows, and layer maintenance across releases.
  • Strong understanding of embedded Linux, including bootloaders, system and kernel configuration, and device trees.
  • Experience developing or porting Linux kernel drivers and adapting BSPs for specific SoCs.
  • Understanding of boot chains, including U-Boot customization, secure or verified boot, and flashing and provisioning workflows for NXP and NVIDIA platforms.
  • Experience with ARM cross-compilers, sysroots, and multi-architecture builds.
  • Strong C skills; Rust experience is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with Linux debugging tools such as gdb, strace, and perf.
  • Practical hardware bring-up experience using UART, JTAG, and GPIO, I2C, or SPI peripherals.
  • Strong documentation, code quality, and teamwork habits.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows, including pull requests or Gerrit review.
  • Experience managing vendor BSP forks, rebasing changes, and performing code reviews.
  • Understanding of secure boot, signed images, and OTA update frameworks such as SWUpdate, Mender, and RAUC.
  • Knowledge of CVE tracking and patching within the Yocto stack.
  • Experience with multimedia technologies including GStreamer, Libcamera, SIP, and WebRTC.
  • Willingness to learn the access-control and point-of-sale domain; previous domain experience is not required.
