Description

  • Audit inpatient cases for DRG validation and documentation improvement
  • Review accounts in proprietary software and client EMR systems to validate case details
  • Examine inpatient medical records to confirm accurate DRG assignments
  • Document clear rationales and supporting evidence for audit recommendations and findings
  • Apply recognized coding references, including ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, AHIMA Practice Briefs on compliant querying, and AHA Coding Clinics

Requirements

  • An active AHIMA credential—RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS—is required
  • At least three years of ICD-10 coding and DRG reimbursement experience
  • Recent experience auditing acute inpatient cases
  • Experience working with multiple EMR platforms, such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech
