Director of Geospatial Practice

Lead and grow Ayoroa | Simmons, LLC’s geospatial practice, spanning reality capture, surveying, GIS, and geospatial analytics. Drive pursuits, partnerships, client relationships, market strategy, and division performance in collaboration with company leadership.

Description

  • Grow the geospatial division and represent Ayoroa | Simmons, LLC in the marketplace
  • Lead business development and market-facing decisions with the CEO
  • Recommend bid or no-bid decisions and remain accountable for resulting win rates
  • Define pricing strategy and win themes while managing the difference between quoted pricing and delivered margin
  • Advise on teaming models, including prime, subcontract, and pass decisions
  • Identify markets, contract vehicles, and client segments to pursue or avoid
  • Develop opportunities ahead of public solicitations
  • Build relationships with facilities leaders, capital program managers, and contracting officers
  • Turn qualified pipeline into contract awards and revenue from new accounts
  • Develop teaming partnerships and relationships with prime contractors
  • Represent the firm at conferences, professional associations, and client forums
  • Increase firm visibility through presentations, published work, and association participation
  • Manage relationships with technology partners and equipment manufacturers
  • Advise clients on scope, accuracy needs, deliverable standards, and methodology as a licensed professional
  • Take responsible charge of survey work in jurisdictions where licensed
  • Coordinate with the operations lead so market commitments align with delivery capacity
  • Extend the practice into GIS, geospatial analytics, and additional regions
  • Direct the division from the outset while working closely with the CEO and co-principals

Requirements

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure with surveying practice in at least one Mid-Atlantic jurisdiction
  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, geography, architecture, construction management, or a related technical discipline
  • Practical command of surveying, geomatics, and reality-capture methods, including accuracy, control, registration, and deliverable requirements
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients at decision-making levels
  • Hands-on business development experience, including pursuits you originated, shaped, or won
  • Strong interest in making business development the central focus of the role
  • Confidence representing a firm through client presentations, conferences, or professional associations
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to explain pursuit decisions and resulting lessons
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, with occasional national and Caribbean travel
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a United States government security clearance
  • Virginia licensure, or eligibility to secure it through comity, is advantageous
  • Public-sector or federal contracting experience is advantageous
  • Experience with SF 330 proposals, IDIQ or MATOC vehicles, GSA Schedules, or small-business programs is advantageous
  • State Department of Transportation or local-government contracting experience is advantageous
  • A track record of managing a business development target is advantageous
  • BIM and VDC experience, including Scan-to-BIM workflows and Revit or Autodesk Construction Cloud, is advantageous
  • GIS and geospatial analytics experience, including the Esri platform, is advantageous
  • Dimensional metrology or industrial measurement experience is advantageous
  • Experience with Leica, Trimble, FARO, or NavVis platforms is advantageous
  • An active security clearance is advantageous
  • Spanish-language capability is advantageous
  • Leadership in SAME, NSPS, a state surveying society, ASPRS, or a comparable association is advantageous
