DevOps Engineer (Onsite)

Develop, test, deploy, and sustain secure software across Sponsor networks and cloud environments. Support Markon’s intelligence-community consulting work through Linux, scripting, APIs, and DevOps tooling.

Description

  • Support the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of mission-focused software across Sponsor networks and cloud environments
  • Modify application source code to address new requirements and change requests
  • Deliver application bug fixes, enhancements, and graphical user interface improvements
  • Develop and deploy software, including applications hosted in cloud environments
  • Integrate externally developed code into core software libraries
  • Install and configure application software
  • Assess third-party vendors and software partners
  • Design and build REST APIs
  • Maintain software library architectures, module APIs, code organization, and compliance with coding standards
  • Advance modular design, code reuse, clean subsystem interfaces, and overall design integrity
  • Work with configuration management personnel to integrate externally developed software
  • Develop software intended for deployment across Sponsor networks
  • Support libraries and applications involving audio/video, image-processing algorithms, operating systems and file systems, and device drivers
  • Help establish product-quality and release-readiness standards, methods, and procedures
  • Perform testing across all stages of the software development life cycle, including regression testing
  • Follow software testing and quality-assurance procedures
  • Create program-level and user-level technical documentation
  • Explain technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with a full-scope polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or a related scientific or technical field; a related master’s degree may substitute for the experience requirement
  • At least two years of professional software engineering experience, unless substituted by a related master’s degree
  • Professional experience with Linux operating systems and Bash shell scripting
  • Software development experience in Python, Java, or Ruby
  • Experience integrating free and open-source software (FOSS) and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies
  • Experience in virtualized infrastructure environments such as VMware or AWS
  • Experience using customer DevOps tools, including GitHub
  • Experience with PKI certificates, encryption protocols, and SSL/TLS
  • Experience working with JSON and XML data-exchange formats
  • Experience producing program-level and user-level documentation
  • Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders and the ability to collaborate on a team
  • Knowledge of data-transfer protocols such as FTP, SFTP, TFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and QUIC
  • Preferred: experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • Preferred: experience with Jenkins
  • Preferred: experience with LDAP and Active Directory
  • Preferred: experience implementing and managing data encryption in secure environments
  • Preferred: additional Linux and Bash shell scripting experience
  • Preferred: experience with JIRA
  • Preferred: experience configuring and developing solutions in AWS environments
  • Preferred: experience with SQL
  • Preferred: experience using Agile software development methodologies
  • Preferred: experience contributing to an Agile software development or systems engineering team
