Description

  • Perform visual welding inspections and assess weld quality against AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104, and applicable ISO standards.
  • Conduct or coordinate nondestructive testing, including MT, PT, UT, RT, PAUT, and TOFD.
  • Inspect joint preparation, alignment, fit-up, root passes, interpass temperatures, and completed welds.
  • Confirm that WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications are approved and valid for offshore work.
  • Verify compliance with offshore regulators, class societies, and operator requirements, including ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, and API.
  • Monitor hot work, habitat conditions, and welding activities in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.
  • Maintain traceability for materials, filler metals, and welding consumables.
  • Prepare inspection reports, NCRs, weld logs, isometric markups, and inspection checklists.
  • Maintain welding documentation packages for load-out, commissioning, and regulatory audits.
  • Track repairs, rework, and inspection status through completion.
  • Coordinate with offshore construction personnel, welders, NDT technicians, engineers, and client QA/QC representatives.
  • Take part in toolbox talks, work-permit reviews, and SIMOPS coordination.
  • Provide technical guidance on welding practices, defect acceptance criteria, and corrective actions.
  • Support compliance with offshore safety requirements, including OSHA, UK HSE, and operator-specific rules.
  • Identify welding hazards and reinforce PPE and hot-work safety procedures.
  • Complete additional duties assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • At least five years of experience on offshore platforms, FPSOs, subsea structures, or pipeline installations.
  • Current BOSIET or FOET certification.
  • Valid AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification or an international equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, and SAW welding processes.
  • Ability to read offshore engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and welding symbols.
  • Working familiarity with API, ASME, AWS, and DNV welding standards.
  • Intermediate written and spoken English skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience using Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening for new hires.
  • Successful completion of all required Performance Energy Services training for new hires.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements involving frequent standing, sitting, hand use, climbing, and kneeling, with occasional lifting or carrying of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in wet or humid environments, near moving mechanical parts, and occasionally at height, with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
