Controls Technical Specialist I, Industrial Automation

Support PLC, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation, and electrical systems at Nestlé Purina’s Flagstaff pet food plant. Troubleshoot production issues and assist with system upgrades and capital projects.

Description

  • Support control systems for daily manufacturing operations, both independently and with colleagues
  • Diagnose electrical and controls issues
  • Provide plant maintenance staff with instrumentation, PLC, and HMI/SCADA software and hardware support
  • Contribute to control system software and electrical upgrades
  • Help implement capital projects
  • Keep current with Corporate Control System Standards and Guidelines
  • Maintain electrical drawings
  • Take part in continuing education
  • Manage multiple projects at once
  • Follow safe work practices when working with voltages up to 480VAC and 600VDC

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or an associate degree in a technical field
  • With a high school diploma or GED, at least 3 years of relevant experience troubleshooting PLC software and hardware and/or HMI systems
  • With an associate degree, at least 1 year of relevant experience troubleshooting PLC software and hardware and/or HMI systems
  • Experience in controls, automation, electrical work, or industrial maintenance
  • Working knowledge of Corporate Control System Standards and Guidelines
  • Understanding of the design, programming, and troubleshooting of process instruments, PLCs, and HMIs
  • Working knowledge of tools and test equipment used to test, diagnose, repair, and maintain production electrical equipment, instrumentation, and controls
  • Knowledge of safe work practices for voltages up to 480VAC and 600VDC
