Contract Specialist - Kuala Lumpur (Onsite)

Protect TechnipFMC’s commercial and contractual interests across global energy projects. Manage tenders, negotiations, claims, insurance matters, and contract execution risks.

Description

  • Safeguard the company’s contractual and commercial interests across its activities and transactions
  • Participate in project-team discussions and decisions on commercial strategy
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks
  • Prepare contract summaries, reviews, obligations matrices, and guidance on contract requirements
  • Advise project teams when execution diverges from contractual requirements
  • Draft and review correspondence with clients, partners, subcontractors, and authorities
  • Manage variations, claims, approvals, negotiations, and other contractual and commercial matters
  • Coordinate supplementary insurance requirements and certificates
  • Lead project claims, including Construction All Risk insurance claims, excluding litigation
  • Support project managers in addressing insured losses or damage
  • Assist sourcing and procurement teams with subcontractor and major supplier matters
  • Issue notices to clients
  • Oversee completions, handovers, milestones, and payment certificates
  • Work with stakeholders and Tax to evaluate tax liabilities
  • Administer bank bonds, parent company guarantees, and insurance certificates
  • Conduct legal reviews of tenders, quotations, direct negotiations, and confidentiality agreements
  • Support negotiations with customers, joint-venture partners, and subcontractors
  • Evaluate contractual and commercial risks and recommend mitigations during tender assessment
  • Present matters to internal management for approval
  • Prepare summaries of contract principles following award
  • Advise on subcontractor flowdown requirements
  • Review contractual and commercial documents before execution
  • Support the transition of contracts to the project team

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in a related field, preferably law, quantity surveying, construction management, or business management
  • Proven experience managing tendering, contract award, and post-award activities
  • Experience administering complex contracts throughout their full lifecycle
  • Strong knowledge of contract law and commercial principles
  • Well-developed organisational skills
  • Proactive and self-directed, with ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Ability to analyse information, weigh alternatives, and make timely evidence-based decisions
  • Careful attention to detail with the ability to spot risks and opportunities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation capability and experience
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, project management, and presentation software
  • Ability to handle competing deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, processes, and business requirements
  • Additional language proficiency is desirable
  • Offshore or subsea industrial experience is desirable
