Commercial Property Pricing Actuary

Price Commercial Property products for Everest’s global insurance business. Build pricing tools, analyze portfolios, and provide insights that support underwriting decisions.

Description

  • Enhance pricing tools and methodologies for Commercial Property products, including Wholesale and Programs.
  • Conduct pricing, profitability, rate change, trend, and portfolio analyses to inform underwriting and business decisions.
  • Support annual planning through ELR analysis, portfolio reviews, and actuarial assumption development.
  • Contribute to pricing modernization through model development, coding, testing, validation, and implementation.
  • Analyze portfolio impacts from strategic initiatives, including rater harmonization and pricing methodology changes.
  • Work with Underwriting, CAT Modeling, IT, Operations, and actuarial teams to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and communicate results.
  • Improve the efficiency, governance, and documentation of pricing and analytical processes.
  • Handle regulatory, filing, reinsurance, and other actuarial requests as needed.
  • Create clear exhibits and summaries that turn actuarial analysis into practical business insights.

Requirements

  • Near-ACAS status with substantial property pricing experience.
  • At least five years of actuarial experience, ideally in property pricing, commercial lines, portfolio management, or related insurance analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to interpret complex data and develop business recommendations.
  • Experience using actuarial pricing tools, data analytics, and modeling methods.
  • Understanding of catastrophe modeling concepts and property insurance pricing is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Excel and large datasets; experience with Python, SQL, R, or comparable tools is preferred.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical topics to actuarial and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, respond to changing business needs, and collaborate across functions.
  • Careful attention to detail, personal ownership, and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and pricing methods.
