Category Manager, Small Format

Lead category strategy for Acosta Group’s retail marketing agencies through CPG insights, syndicated-data analysis, client reporting, and sales presentations. Build trusted-advisor relationships while turning shopper, basket, panel, and market data into actionable recommendations.

Description

  • Develop category-focused selling narratives
  • Provide analysis that addresses business questions
  • Evaluate how category management decisions affect business performance
  • Coordinate multiple requests, projects, and recurring reporting activities
  • Offer clients forward-looking category expertise
  • Turn data into insight-led analyses and recommendations aligned with strategic objectives
  • Contribute to category reviews alongside cross-functional teams
  • Create and maintain client reporting that tracks performance against strategic objectives
  • Meet regularly with assigned clients and business managers to establish trusted-advisor relationships
  • Prepare sales presentations using syndicated, panel, basket, shopper, and other data sources
  • Stay connected with clients to support understanding of KPIs, innovation, and other key information

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Relevant professional experience may replace the education requirement
  • At least three years of related experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Windows and related applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, VB, and advanced macros
  • Power BI knowledge is a strong asset
  • Experience working with syndicated data or space management tools
  • Ability to select and apply relevant data to diagnose situations and identify possible solutions
  • Ability to perform data mining using CPG mathematics concepts and tools
  • Clear, effective communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences
  • Ability to manage project plans independently, including tracking, communication, and timelines
  • Ability to recognize problems and determine the information required to diagnose them
  • Ability to satisfy internal and external stakeholder expectations and requirements
  • Ability to execute strategic objectives and help keep priorities on track
  • Experience with Circana (IRI), Nielsen, 84.51, Market 6, or Stratum
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Category Management Certification preferred
