Category Manager III, Hardware and Telecom – Owens & Minor Remote Virginia

Lead strategic sourcing, negotiations, supplier management, and category planning for hardware and telecommunications procurement. Support Owens & Minor’s global healthcare products, services, and technology operations.

Description

  • Oversee strategic sourcing, supplier management, and category planning for assigned indirect procurement categories
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to create sourcing strategies
  • Lead negotiations and advise on market conditions, supplier capabilities, cost drivers, and risks
  • Execute category strategies that support procurement and business priorities
  • Identify sourcing opportunities and maintain initiative pipelines
  • Create strategic sourcing plans, initiative pipelines, and category roadmaps
  • Monitor market intelligence, supplier segmentation, demand patterns, and risk mitigation plans
  • Direct end-to-end sourcing events, including stakeholder alignment, supplier selection, RFP/RFQ execution, analysis, negotiations, and award recommendations
  • Work with Legal, Finance, Compliance, IT, and business stakeholders on contracts and procurement objectives
  • Manage key supplier relationships, performance reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement
  • Support savings, value creation, and cost avoidance goals
  • Track sourcing outcomes, validate financial benefits, and contribute to leadership reporting
  • Establish preferred supplier programs and governance for professional services
  • Implement a finance-supported spend control tower to improve visibility into functional budgets
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives and influence senior leaders toward enterprise objectives
  • Drive change management to encourage adoption of procurement strategies, processes, and technologies
  • Act as a procurement subject matter expert, advising on processes, market dynamics, supplier options, and commercial strategy
  • Share procurement expertise and best practices with peers, analysts, and junior team members
  • Use digital procurement technologies, data analytics, and process automation to improve decisions and stakeholder outcomes
  • Apply procurement platforms and analytical tools to support category strategy, sourcing, supplier management, and performance reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5–7 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, category management, finance, or a related business field
  • Experience managing complex indirect spend categories and supporting strategic sourcing programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations, sourcing events, supplier evaluations, and contract support activities
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and project management capabilities
  • Experience with procurement systems, spend analytics tools, and supplier management platforms
  • Experience managing hardware and telecommunications categories, including telecom services, network connectivity, infrastructure, hardware, mobile services, end-user devices, and related technology services
  • Ability to apply digital procurement technologies, data analytics, and process automation
  • Practical experience using procurement platforms and analytical tools for category strategy, sourcing execution, supplier management, and performance reporting
  • Work is performed under inside working conditions
