Description

  • Administer AWS-hosted database environments, including databases operating in EC2 HADR configurations
  • Track and improve database performance, availability, capacity, and reliability
  • Maintain IBM Db2 environments and support related projects, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Provide support for PostgreSQL environments as needed
  • Administer and troubleshoot high-availability, multi-node database clusters
  • Support disaster recovery, backup and restore, and broader database resilience processes
  • Resolve L2/L3 database incidents involving performance, clusters, system jobs, and production operations
  • Help investigate and resolve P1/P2 incidents, including after-hours events when necessary
  • Use monitoring and observability tools to track database and infrastructure health
  • Assist with database migrations, upgrades, configuration updates, and other technical initiatives
  • Manage capacity and identify performance, storage, or resource limitations before they impact production
  • Follow established incident and change management procedures
  • Partner with Platform Architects and technical teams on governance, automation, and database operating standards
  • Develop operational automation and improvements that increase efficiency, reliability, and repeatability
  • Take part in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Collaborate effectively with teams distributed across multiple locations

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience as a Database Administrator or in a closely related database infrastructure position
  • At least three years of practical AWS experience supporting mission-critical production databases
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience or expertise with another relevant enterprise relational database
  • Deep knowledge of database maintenance, performance tuning, high availability, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and capacity management
  • Background troubleshooting production database problems, including performance, clustering, system jobs, and availability incidents
  • Experience working with Linux or other operating systems in database or infrastructure settings
  • Experience following incident and change management procedures in production or mission-critical environments
  • Ability to investigate technical issues independently and take clear ownership of database problems
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, database tools, monitoring, or observability platforms
  • Strong communication skills and effectiveness when collaborating with geographically distributed technical teams
  • Availability and willingness to join a 24/7 on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents outside standard working hours
  • IBM Db2 certification is advantageous but not required
