Automation Service Engineer, Energy Industries — ABB, Helsinki Hybrid

Provide automation, control-system design, and commissioning services for ABB’s energy-industry customers in Finland. Support service agreements and project delivery through customer-focused engineering work.

Description

  • Handle service assignments and resolve customers’ ad-hoc technical issues.
  • Plan and deliver hardware and software design work for control systems.
  • Commission systems at customer sites and through remote support.
  • Maintain accurate data for the installed equipment base.
  • Work with service coordinators, project managers, lead engineers, colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute periodically to upgrade and system-evolution projects.
  • Deliver service work professionally and cost-effectively in line with contracts, budgets, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Carry out engineering and commissioning for service contracts and projects, primarily in Finland and occasionally internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in automation engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of hardware and software design for power plant automation and electrical systems.
  • Experience with engineering processes in life sciences, chemicals, food and beverage, or power generation.
  • Fluent written and spoken Finnish and English.
  • Swedish language skills are an advantage.
  • A results-focused approach with strong customer-service and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to pursue continuous learning and professional development.
  • Knowledge of, or readiness to develop skills in, IT and cybersecurity activities.
  • Availability to travel approximately 30–150 days per year.
