Associate Data Scientist – Texas Remote

Support The Home Depot’s retail profitability and customer experience through advanced analytics, modeling, and data-driven insights. Partner with experienced data scientists to develop practical solutions for business needs.

Description

  • Contribute to data science initiatives that improve profitability, operational efficiency, and customer experience
  • Build analytical solutions with data scientists and senior data scientists using advanced methods and algorithms
  • Create algorithms and models from large datasets to generate actionable business insights
  • Analyze business challenges and complete assigned work accurately and efficiently
  • Work with senior team members to select, apply, and interpret advanced analytical methods
  • Learn assigned business domains and apply relevant operational knowledge to analytical solutions
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Help produce project reports, status updates, and presentations
  • Explain the potential effects of recommendations to support alignment and implementation
  • Track industry developments, established practices, and emerging analytical approaches
  • Strengthen data analytics capabilities and identify opportunities to apply new knowledge
  • Report to a manager or higher-level leader without direct management responsibilities
  • Perform the role without travel

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Hold or be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent degree, in a field related to the role
  • A master’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent professional experience is preferred
  • Three or more years of business intelligence and analytics experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with a modern scripting language, preferably Python
  • Experience querying data, preferably with Google BigQuery or SQL
  • Experience with predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis
  • Experience using data visualization software, preferably Tableau
  • Experience applying statistical techniques to uncover important insights
  • Basic knowledge of or exposure to prescriptive modeling, including optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, or NLP
  • Basic knowledge of or exposure to predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis
