AI Safety Red Teamer - United States Remote

Mercor is seeking a remote AI Safety Red Teamer to challenge frontier AI models and uncover vulnerabilities across high-risk domains. The contract role supports AI labs developing and improving advanced systems.

Description

  • Create adversarial prompts to probe frontier AI models
  • Detect jailbreaks, unsafe behavior, hallucinations, and policy violations
  • Assess model resilience to misinformation, cyber threats, biosecurity risks, fraud, political content, and other sensitive topics
  • Record discovered vulnerabilities and help produce safety benchmarks and red-team reports
  • Partner with AI researchers to strengthen model alignment, robustness, and safety
  • Contribute to projects that train and improve AI systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, cybersecurity, journalism, communications, psychology, biology, chemistry, public policy, or a related field
  • At least five years of professional experience in AI safety, AI red teaming, trust and safety, cybersecurity, investigative journalism, life sciences, or a related area
  • Strong analytical judgment, prompt-design ability, and written communication skills
  • Experience creating adversarial prompts or assessing frontier AI systems
  • AI red teaming, RLHF, SFT, AI alignment, or trust and safety experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with jailbreak testing, prompt engineering, or adversarial evaluation methods is preferred
  • Expertise in at least one gray-area domain, such as cybersecurity, biosecurity, political content, misinformation, or scientific safety, is preferred
  • Ability to work as an independent contractor
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates are not supported
