AI Researcher, Generative AI and Domain-Specific LLMs

Research and develop generative AI, foundational models, and domain-specific large language models for Cisco’s networking, security, data center, and observability products. Publish research and translate advances into practical product solutions.

Description

  • Develop specialized large language models for Cisco’s networking, security, data center, and observability platforms
  • Lead foundational-model pre-training efforts across Cisco’s product portfolio
  • Advance generative AI research for network automation and human-computer interaction
  • Explore domain-specific representations tailored to networking applications
  • Partner with engineers and strategists to apply research to business solutions
  • Publish findings in leading AI research venues
  • Present technical work and coordinate workshops
  • Support the broader scientific community while strengthening Cisco’s position in AI research

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science with 5 years of related experience, master’s degree with 3 years, or PhD with no additional experience required
  • Hands-on experience pre-training and post-training large language models in industry or academic research
  • At least three publications in leading AI venues, including ACL, EMNLP, ICLR, ICML, NAACL, or NeurIPS
  • Experience developing machine learning models and working with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, or comparable platforms
  • Experience leading research projects in an industry or university lab, including relevant full-time or internship work
  • Interest in combining representation learning with problem-specific characteristics
  • Experience developing and fine-tuning foundation models such as LLMs, multimodal models, or domain-specific models
  • Current knowledge of generative AI, large language models, and multimodal models
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities for collaborative work
