Senior Media Editor, Remote (US)
Macmillan Learning seeks a senior editor to coordinate digital and supplementary resources for high school education products. The role manages authors, vendors, and projects while testing AI and automation to improve editorial workflows.

- Coordinate editorial projects with program management, development, content, product, and production teams.
- Keep stakeholders updated on project progress, issues, schedules, and budgets.
- Share changing information from product, engineering, and program management teams.
- Assess user needs and collaborate with editors to plan content around platform capabilities.
- Adjust schedules, budgets, or content in response to planned platform features.
- Guide multimedia authors on priorities and deliverables to support timely, high-quality production.
- Find, evaluate, hire, and work with vendors and freelancers on multimedia projects.
- Track active projects, consult colleagues and contributors, and adapt workflows when needed.
- Identify efficiency gains and pilot AI and automation in internal and authoring workflows.
- Record effective practices and measure effects on turnaround time, cost, or capacity while preserving editorial quality.
- Review and negotiate marketing and sales input on customer requests.
- Prepare copy, draft files, and tables of contents for marketing and sales materials.
- Attend relevant conferences, sales presentations, and company meetings to showcase products and gather market insights.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a field related to the role.
- At least five years of editorial experience in educational publishing or educational technology, including at least three years in media editorial work.
- Senior-level judgment and leadership ability.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including handling concurrent projects in a fast-paced setting, setting priorities, solving problems collaboratively, and staying within approved budgets.
- Careful attention to detail, self-direction, and commitment to quality.
- Written and spoken communication skills suited to different audiences.
- Experience managing authors and freelancers, speaking with product users, and working across functions with internal stakeholders.
- Understanding of how digital content interacts with platform capabilities.
- Interest in identifying and evaluating authors, freelancers, and vendors.
- Ability to write effective AI prompts and build or test AI tools, with an understanding of legal and ethical limits on AI use.
- Experience with Google Workspace.
- Preferred: experience in high school teaching, publishing, or educational technology.
- Preferred: at least one year of instructional design experience.
- Preferred: experience with Google Apps Script or coding.
- Ability to multitask and concentrate in an open-office environment.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week when needed.
