Senior Database Engineer — Madrid Hybrid
Senior Database Engineer responsible for reliable PostgreSQL and MySQL platforms, including automation, replication, disaster recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.

- Build, improve, and operate highly available, secure, and fault-tolerant PostgreSQL and MySQL environments on premises and in Amazon RDS.
- Create and maintain database provisioning, configuration management, and deployment workflows with Ansible and/or Terraform.
- Administer and troubleshoot multi-region and multi-node PostgreSQL and MySQL replication.
- Tune queries, indexes, database engine settings, and schemas to improve response times.
- Reduce and manage database downtime.
- Run disaster recovery exercises and uphold backup, encryption, privacy, and data recovery practices.
- Track infrastructure health and database performance indicators.
- Plan capacity and implement maintenance releases, security patches, and database engine upgrades.
- Define and document database policies, operating procedures, schema standards, and runbooks.
- Share expertise, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and promote strong engineering practices.
- Deliver Tier 3 support for business-critical production systems.
- Join a 24/7 on-call rotation as required.
आवश्यकताएँ
- At least five years of hands-on production experience as a Database Engineer or Database Administrator.
- Experience in high-throughput sectors such as i-gaming, fintech, or e-commerce is strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of both PostgreSQL and MySQL open-source database engines.
- Understanding of database internals, engine-specific tuning, and troubleshooting methods.
- Practical experience using Ansible for configuration management and orchestration.
- Practical experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
- Hands-on experience with high-availability technologies such as Patroni, PgBouncer, Galera Cluster, or MySQL InnoDB Cluster/Group Replication.
- Demonstrated experience operating latency-sensitive, high-concurrency database environments.
- Expertise in point-in-time recovery, logical and physical backups, security hardening, and data integrity validation.
- Strong Bash, shell scripting, and Python skills.
- Experience with DBA tools and monitoring platforms for frontend and backend systems.
