Engineer III, Network Security - Houston Hybrid
Lead enterprise network security architecture for ABS across Zero Trust, firewall, VPN, and hybrid-cloud environments. Shape automation, governance, and technical standards for a global marine safety organization.

- Own the enterprise network security roadmap across Zero Trust, NIST 800-171/CMMC, and business priorities
- Architect resilient network security across on-premises, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and multi-cloud environments
- Turn security policies into practical infrastructure designs and network security standards
- Assess emerging technologies and advise IT leadership on architectural direction
- Act as the technical authority for firewalls, segmentation, VPN, and remote-access infrastructure
- Maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and network security engineering standards
- Integrate tools that map users to resources across on-premises, cloud, and remote-access environments
- Create identity-based policy enforcement standards to advance Zero Trust maturity
- Design workflows for firewall policy ownership, review, cleanup, and retirement
- Optimize large firewall rulebases across security and NAT policies
- Automate repeatable engineering processes and reduce manual work
- Set documentation standards and create engineering templates
- Guide and mentor network and firewall engineers on architecture and implementation
- Coordinate with security operations, cloud engineering, identity and access management, and application teams
- Convert security requirements into infrastructure configurations and designs
- Provide expert escalation support for complex firewall, VPN, routing, and multi-cloud connectivity issues
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and incident response with architectural and technical expertise
- Report to IMS Management and oversee outside contractors where applicable
आवश्यकताएँ
- At least eight years of progressive network security engineering experience
- Three or more years in a senior engineering or technical leadership role
- Five or more years using Palo Alto NGFW and Panorama in a global enterprise with hybrid-cloud infrastructure
- College degree or recognized equivalent, preferably in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or comparable professional experience
- Palo Alto PCNSA or PCNSE certification
- Cisco CCNP Security or Enterprise certification
- Cloud certification in Azure, OCI, or GCP
- Certification related to NIST or CMMC
- Cloudflare ASE/ACE or Zscaler ZDTA, ZDTE, or ZDXA certification
- Expertise designing enterprise network security infrastructure across on-premises, Azure, OCI, and GCP environments
- Advanced knowledge of Palo Alto NGFW, Panorama, App-ID, Threat Prevention, GlobalProtect, and security-zone design
- Experience redesigning and optimizing large-scale firewall rulebases containing more than 1,000 rules
- Strong command of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VPC, HSRP, VLAN, SD-WAN, and DMVPN architectures
- Extensive experience with IPSec VPN, GlobalProtect, SSL VPN, SAML/MFA integration, and failover design
- Hands-on experience with Azure VNet, NSG, Azure Firewall, OCI VCN/DRG, Megaport, and ExpressRoute
- Working knowledge of Zero Trust, microsegmentation, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, and CMMC
- Ability to create runbooks, SOPs, design documents, and training materials
- Experience explaining architecture to technical and non-technical audiences, mentoring engineers, and leading technical initiatives
- Understanding of ITAR compliance and its effect on infrastructure design
- Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System
- Must meet U.S. export-control requirements as a U.S. Person or obtain the necessary export licenses or authorizations
