Helicopter Pilot - Air Methods

Operate Air Methods aircraft for air medical transport while supporting safe patient transfers to receiving hospitals. Maintain flight safety, aircraft airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

Tavsif

  • Operate Air Methods aircraft safely and in compliance with applicable laws
  • Complete preflight inspections and confirm airworthiness in the Daily Flight Log
  • Conduct a full aircraft walk-around before entering the cockpit and after every flight
  • Retain final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • Stay familiar with the aircraft and medical backup systems used in the operating area
  • Ensure the medical flight team is comfortable with and knowledgeable about the medical interior and onboard systems
  • Complete all required flight and operational documentation
  • Prepare detailed flight plans to exacting standards, often with limited notice
  • Take part in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • Carry out other assigned responsibilities

Talablar

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, plus two to five years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Body weight must not exceed 250 pounds
  • Must be under 70 years of age
  • Pilots must have flown the applicable category within the preceding 24 months
  • At least 2,500 total flight hours, including 2,000 hours in category
  • At least 1,000 hours as pilot in command in category
  • At least 500 hours of rotor-wing turbine experience
  • At least 500 hours of cross-country flight time, including 50 hours at night
  • At least 100 hours of unaided night pilot-in-command time, subject to the specified NVG substitution rules
  • At least 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time, including 50 hours in flight in an aircraft and 20 hours in actual instrument conditions in category
  • At least 2,500 total helicopter hours
  • At least 200 hours of night flight, aided or unaided
  • 100 hours of instrument time preferred
  • Instrument rating for the applicable category and class; an ATP rating in category satisfies this requirement
  • Fixed-wing multiengine rating required for twin-engine aircraft
  • Commercial single-engine land rating required for single-engine aircraft
  • Current First or Second Class FAA Medical Certificate
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies and procedures
  • Reliable attendance on a 7/7 schedule with 12-hour shifts
