Founding Staff Engineer, AI Consumer Product
Build and run an AI-powered storytelling product, owning its full-stack delivery and language model systems. Lead evaluations, reliability, and rapid product experiments from the founding team.

- Work with the founders and founding product designer to build, launch, and improve the product.
- Deliver the product end to end, from its database to the reader interface.
- Use coding agents to implement software while guiding product choices, experiments, and AI trust boundaries.
- Run production systems across data modeling, streaming, background jobs, concurrency, payments, credit tracking, deployment, and observability.
- Make production events traceable so failures can be diagnosed.
- Build benchmarks and evaluations for story continuity, character behavior, narrative quality, and failure cases.
- Create memory and context systems that support stories lasting hundreds of turns.
- Choose models and assign them to suitable tasks.
- Direct retrieval and orchestration, balancing cost and latency.
- Set maintainable engineering practices for agent-based systems.
- Rapidly test alternatives and use evidence to guide product and infrastructure decisions.
Talablar
- At least five years of experience.
- Strong hands-on production engineering expertise.
- Ability to build with language models, context, memory, and evaluations.
- Experience delivering consumer products end to end.
- Experience building and operating production systems centered on language models.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving issues affecting real users.
- Ability to design experiments before investing in custom infrastructure.
- Ability to create meaningful evaluations.
- Strong understanding of databases, APIs, concurrency, background jobs, and production reliability.
- Product judgment and confidence making decisions without detailed specifications.
- Genuine interest in retention and user experience.
- Ability to explain complex technical decisions in clear, plain English.
- Willingness to challenge founders and advisers.
- Preferred: several years as a full-stack product engineer.
- Preferred: experience as an early engineer at a startup.
- Preferred: strong technical education, such as IIT, NIT, IIIT, or BITS.
- Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, and Postgres.
- Experience using leading language models through APIs and background jobs.
- Core skills: large language models, backend engineering, and system design.
- Desirable skills: AI agents, LLM evaluation, and full-stack development.
