Opis

  • Lead and scale a high-performing data engineering team
  • Support engineers through regular feedback, mentorship, and career growth
  • Set the long-term direction for Preply’s data foundation, including the Lakehouse, ingestion layers, data contracts, enrichment, and governance
  • Partner with Analytics, ML Platform, Data Science, and Product to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities
  • Turn strategy into practical delivery plans while balancing foundational investment against immediate business needs
  • Guide technical decisions across batch and streaming ingestion, data modeling, quality, and governance
  • Define SLOs, observability practices, and incident response processes for data pipelines
  • Improve code quality, operational excellence, development practices, and technology evolution
  • Align business stakeholders on priorities, data ownership, standards, and outcomes
  • Own hiring standards, team structure, and the team’s operating model

Zahteve

  • At least 8 years of experience in software or data engineering
  • At least 5 years of engineering management experience
  • Background leading data or platform engineering teams
  • People-focused leadership style with strong team-building capability
  • Sound technical judgment and systems-thinking skills
  • Experience facilitating architecture discussions and assessing technical trade-offs
  • Demonstrated success hiring, coaching, and retaining high-performing teams, including senior engineers
  • Experience working with Analytics, Data Science, ML, and Product teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder leadership abilities
  • Evidence of delivering measurable, business-oriented results
  • Leadership grounded in ethics, empathy, transparency, accountability, and ownership
  • Preferred: familiarity with Spark, Flink, Kafka, Debezium, Airflow, dbt, AWS or GCP, and modern DevOps practices
  • Preferred: experience leading data platforms adopted by multiple teams in fast-growing companies
  • Preferred: experience operating a data platform as a product, including data contracts, self-service onboarding, discoverability, and adoption measurement
  • Preferred: experience applying data governance, privacy, and compliance controls at ingestion
  • Preferred: familiarity with feature stores, ML data pipelines, or GenAI/RAG data preparation
  • Preferred: experience using Agentic AI for architecture, planning, and decision-making while maintaining human judgment, quality gates, and safety nets
