Contract Publication Layout and Production Designer

Create a photography-led impact coffee table book for NESsT, from editorial layouts and visual systems to charts and finished print and digital files.

Opis

  • Shape the visual concept, editorial layout, and production files for an approximately 80–120-page photography-led coffee table book.
  • Build a cohesive visual and editorial design system and produce representative layouts.
  • Design the full publication, including covers, front and back matter, chapter openings, longform stories, profiles, photo-led spreads, and impact pages.
  • Incorporate NESsT-provided photography, captions, credits, impact data, and brand assets.
  • Create a limited set of simple, publication-ready charts, maps, timelines, statistics, and callouts using approved NESsT data.
  • Flow and copyfit the approved English manuscript, then incorporate revisions at formal review checkpoints.
  • Prepare final files for print and digital use.
  • Deliver the approved visual and editorial design system with representative layouts.
  • By December 1, deliver a release-ready digital package with the introduction, ten longform stories, related impact pages, and supporting front matter.
  • By December 11, deliver the complete publication layout, a print-ready PDF, an optimized digital PDF, and organized editable source files.
  • Work with NESsT and its distributed international team across kickoff, design review, proof review, and final delivery milestones.

Zahteve

  • At least five years of professional experience in publication or editorial design.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign and relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Strong experience producing complete, long-form, multi-section print publications.
  • Ability to use typography, photography, pacing, and page composition to create a unified editorial narrative.
  • Experience with photography-intensive publications, information design, commercial printing, color management, prepress, and production file preparation.
  • Strong attention to detail, file management, quality control, and deadline management, with the ability to work with a distributed international team.
  • Substantial experience designing complete, long-form print publications; experience limited to brochures, one-pagers, websites, presentation decks, social media assets, or short reports is insufficient on its own.
  • Submit a brief statement of interest and proposed approach.
  • Provide three to five completed editorial publications, including at least two over 60 pages and at least one photography-led publication for a premium audience.
  • Provide details about each portfolio example.
  • If applying as a studio, describe the team composition.
  • Provide a fixed-fee budget with assumptions, exclusions, taxes, reimbursable costs, and third-party expenses.
  • Confirm availability to meet the December 1 and December 11 deadlines.
  • Be available from November 2 through December 11, 2026.
  • Preferred: experience with nonprofit, foundation, social entrepreneurship, international development, ESG, or impact-investing organizations.
  • Preferred: experience designing donor-facing impact communications and stewardship materials.
  • Preferred: experience with coffee table books, museum publications, foundation reports, premium annual reports, or comparable publications.
  • Preferred: ability to turn complex social, environmental, and economic impact narratives into compelling visual experiences.
