Senior Automation and AI Engineer
Improve Timescapes’ construction operations by building internal AI and automation systems. Create connected workflows, integrations, and dependable data foundations across teams.
Descriere
- Work with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Service Delivery, Field Service, Finance, and Product to find valuable operational improvements.
- Assess emerging AI and automation tools, opportunities, and changes to how work is organized.
- Document existing workflows and understand how value moves through them before automating.
- Build and launch agentic AI workflows, automations, and internal tools across teams and systems.
- Evaluate results, refine effective solutions, and remove those that do not work.
- Maintain the reliability and long-term upkeep of deployed systems and automations.
- Coordinate vendors and contractors when purchasing a solution makes more sense than building one.
- Monitor operating expenses and make costs transparent.
- Develop deep working knowledge of HubSpot, Odoo, Chargebee, MotherDuck, the company platform, and their APIs and integrations.
- Set clear business entities, systems of record, and reliable reporting metrics.
- Help teams adopt AI with training sessions, practical guides, and skills development.
- Set expectations for privacy, security, responsible AI use, transparency, and cost management.
- Improve internal operations; another team is responsible for customer-facing AI features.
- Initially report to the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, with reporting expected to transition to the Chief Operating Officer over time.
Cerințe
- At least five years in automation, data, analytics engineering, or a related field, including substantial recent hands-on AI work.
- A portfolio of projects you have built and the ability to discuss them.
- Experience owning outcomes from start to finish in a fast-paced SaaS or startup environment.
- Experience defining work for and managing external vendors and contractors.
- Practical experience with AI automation tools, workflow builders, automation platforms, and agent frameworks.
- Good judgment about when a simple script is a better choice than an AI agent.
- Strong technical skills in SQL, coding, APIs, scripting, and systems integration.
- Data modeling skills sufficient to define business entities and metrics.
- A record of improving how a function operates.
- Comfort working with operational and field teams on scheduling, dispatch, installation workflows, and service tickets.
- Familiarity with commercial systems and the proliferation of add-on tools.
- Practical knowledge of responsible AI.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to create playbooks where none exist.
- Ability to train and support others, including people who are skeptical of or overwhelmed by AI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
