Junior to Mid-Level DevOps Engineer - Hybrid, Boulder | Flatirons Solutions
Join Flatirons Solutions as a hybrid DevOps Engineer supporting Linux and Windows infrastructure in the Boulder area. The role focuses on automation, security, virtualization, container adoption, and reliable operations.
Descriere
- Administer Linux and Windows environments, including services, permissions, networking, and system logs
- Implement scheduled security patches and remediation measures to support compliance
- Develop and maintain automation for day-to-day operations
- Help operate highly available services and clustered databases
- Manage virtualized environments while supporting the migration of services toward containers
- Maintain backup and snapshot processes, including restoration activities
- Apply AI tools to automation, scripting, troubleshooting, and architecture work, turning suggestions into reviewed and usable changes
- Manage tasks through Jira and a Kanban workflow
- Create practical documentation for environment deployment, operations, and recovery
- Coordinate with engineering teams during releases and incident response
- Take part in an after-hours on-call rotation
- Handle other responsibilities as assigned
- Follow Integrated Management Systems requirements for Quality, Information Security, and Privacy
Cerințe
- A preferred bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience, training, or certifications are also considered
- 0–2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, cloud operations, DevOps, or a comparable technical position
- Relevant internships, academic work, home labs, and substantial projects are valued
- Basic Linux administration experience, including command-line tools, systemd, and vi/vim
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Docker Swarm, or Podman
- Basic knowledge of Windows administration
- Working familiarity with Bash or shell scripting and the ability to create or adjust simple scripts with guidance
- Experience with VMware/vCenter and virtual machine operations, or an interest in learning on-premises infrastructure
- Understanding of patching, vulnerability remediation, access management, and other core security practices
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, or comparable technologies
- Interest in load balancing, high availability, and cluster-management tools such as HAProxy or Patroni
- Familiarity with Jira, Kanban, ticketing systems, or Agile work-management practices
- Responsible use of AI tools for automation, scripting, troubleshooting, documentation, and learning
- Clear written communication and a willingness to document processes, solutions, and operational work
- Curiosity, a methodical troubleshooting approach, attention to detail, and motivation to develop modern infrastructure skills
- Kubernetes experience is advantageous
- Experience with Veeam, Zerto, or similar backup and recovery platforms is advantageous
