Software Engineer, Thomson Reuters — Colombo (Hybrid)
Build and improve scalable applications for Thomson Reuters’ information and professional services platforms. Work across Java, Scala, microservices, testing, and Agile delivery.

- Build, test, deploy, and improve software systems and applications for customers worldwide
- Work with colleagues, mentors, stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams
- Create scalable, reliable, high-performing software
- Help develop software features and applications with guidance from experienced engineers
- Write clear, maintainable, tested, and documented code
- Review code, debug issues, test software, and help improve quality
- Participate in Agile activities such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog discussions
- Find technical issues, investigate problems, and help resolve them
- Expand technical knowledge and learn tools, technologies, and development practices
Prasības
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering
- Software development experience through academic, internship, or personal projects, both independently and in a team
- Basic knowledge of the software development lifecycle, from design and development through testing and deployment
- Foundational software engineering skills and capacity to learn quickly
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Java
- Interest in learning Scala and functional programming concepts
- Knowledge of software design patterns, architecture principles, and system design fundamentals
- Exposure to microservices architecture and container tools such as Docker
- Knowledge of relational database management systems
- Understanding of scalability, integration, security, reliability, and testing practices
- Familiarity with Agile methods, CI/CD pipelines, and version control tools such as Git
- Commitment to producing clean, maintainable, testable, documented code
- Exposure to automated testing and quality assurance
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing requirements
- Agile approach, openness to feedback, and commitment to ongoing improvement
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
