Senior Optical Engineer

Design and integrate adaptive optics and imaging systems at Boeing’s Starfire Optical Range. Support Air Force Research Laboratory missions in space domain awareness.

Apraksts

  • Lead the design, fabrication, and integration of precision optical systems
  • Turn opto-mechanical concepts into working experimental hardware
  • Set and validate specifications for optical systems and components
  • Use trade studies and simulations to improve system design and performance
  • Analyze and solve complex optical engineering problems
  • Help manage projects by preparing work statements, budgets, schedules, and status reports
  • Draft proposal sections that support new business development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on adaptive optics and imaging systems for Air Force Research Laboratory space domain awareness missions

Prasības

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, or aeronautical), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or a non-U.S. equivalent directly related to the work
  • At least 4 years of optical design experience
  • At least 4 years of experience using optical software such as Zemax, Code V, or OSLO
  • Preferred: 9 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred: Advanced study in an optical specialization
  • Preferred: Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • Preferred: Experience with adaptive optics systems
  • Preferred: Experience designing, fabricating, evaluating, and testing advanced engineering hardware
  • Preferred: At least 5 years modeling or simulating electro-optical and infrared systems with MATLAB or Mathematica
  • Preferred: Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Must meet U.S. export control requirements as a U.S. Person
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. Government requirements include U.S. citizenship
  • Interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance is required after starting
  • The employer does not sponsor employment visas
