Senior Founding Product Engineer, Remote in India
Lead product engineering for an Australian health technology company, spanning an LLM-powered mental health coach, Python services, and mobile and web apps. Build secure, safety-focused AI experiences with the founder and clinical team.

- Lead the AI Coach’s prompts, conversation flow, retrieval, model evaluation, and safety checks against clinical scenarios.
- Build and own Python backend services with FastAPI, Strawberry GraphQL, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, and AWS Sydney.
- Deliver iOS and Android apps with React Native and web features with React, including app store releases and Stripe subscriptions.
- Manage CI/CD, environments, signing credentials, monitoring, backups, and rollback to support frequent, reliable releases.
- Use product judgment to improve mobile and web user experiences.
- Explain technical decisions in clear, accessible language to the founder and clinical team.
- Plan work, align on direction, deliver independently, and communicate results.
- Create automated evaluation tools for AI Coach scenarios.
- Take ownership of the existing codebase, even where documentation is limited.
- Develop safety thresholds and crisis response systems with legal and clinical guidance.
- Report directly to the non-technical founder.

- Have shipped LLM-powered products to production, including prompt design, conversation state, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation, moderation, and safety handling.
- Bring strong backend skills in Python, FastAPI or a comparable framework, SQL or PostgreSQL, and AWS; be ready to own infrastructure, CI/CD, and production operations independently.
- Be proficient in React Native and React, able to ship and debug on iOS and Android and handle in-app purchases on both platforms and Stripe payments on web.
- Use agentic coding tools regularly and apply sound judgment when reviewing and taking responsibility for their output.
- Have a strong eye for mobile and web usability, and proactively fix layout, copy, and interaction problems.
- Have owned a product or major system end to end with little technical oversight, and communicate effectively in writing with a non-technical founder.
- Handle sensitive information carefully, with experience or clear commitment to privacy, security, and access controls for personal or health data.
- Experience in mental health, health technology, or other regulated or safety-critical consumer products is an advantage.
- Experience taking over a codebase from an agency or a departing team is an advantage.
- Experience with mobile release operations, including App Store and Play Store reviews, promotional codes, or staged rollouts, is an advantage.
- Experience with analytics and growth tools such as AppsFlyer or GA4, event taxonomy, or experimentation frameworks is an advantage.
- Experience with voice features such as text-to-speech or speech-to-text, push notifications, or CRM and email integrations is an advantage.
