Apraksts

  • Lead claims litigation and case strategy for designated states.
  • Guide managers and supervisors on handling, investigating, and communicating about complex, high-exposure, and other critical claims.
  • Hire, supervise, and assess outside counsel, including monitoring their performance.
  • Direct and train claims handling for assigned branches and units in line with state law.
  • Set and teach claims handling protocols that comply with applicable state law.
  • Research legal developments and explain their effects on claims practices, procedures, internal departments, and proposed policy changes.
  • Advise colleagues in other departments on claims, coverage, and legal matters.
  • Develop and deliver training for schools, online learning, and branch teams.

Prasības

  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to manage changing schedules, collaborate with others, and prioritize work by urgency and importance.
  • Able to build trusted working relationships with defense counsel, adjusters, claimants and their attorneys, judges, company leaders, and other departments.
  • Law degree, with thorough command of litigation, claims litigation precedents, legal decisions, insurance law, and policy language.
  • One to three years of trial or legal claims experience.
  • Able to complete six to twelve months of on-the-job training covering insurance contracts, claims processes and policies, court systems and procedures, and relationship building with branches, area attorneys, and other departments.
  • Able to perform the essential duties of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must live in one of these states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin.
