Associate or Senior Editor, BMC Nursing

Shape BMC Nursing’s open-access journal strategy, strengthen peer review, and build relationships with its editorial community. Support Springer Nature’s research publishing through content development and efforts to raise the journal’s visibility.

Apraksts

  • Create a development strategy for BMC Nursing based on journal performance, development priorities, and the wider BMC series strategy.
  • Contribute subject-specific strategy across Springer Nature’s Journals group.
  • Select and commission reviews, collections, and supplements.
  • Work with the scientific community to progress commissioned content.
  • Guide published content by advising editorial board members and handling individual submissions when needed.
  • Investigate and resolve publishing and research ethics cases before and after publication.
  • Work with other teams to address editorial issues, prioritize author service, and uphold editorial standards.
  • Contribute advice to editorial policy development.
  • Build strong working relationships with editorial board members and authors.
  • Discuss journal policy, content matters, and board recruitment with senior board members.
  • Recruit and train editorial board members.
  • Help strengthen editorial board engagement.
  • Arrange regular meetings with senior and wider editorial boards, in person or online.
  • Make sure board members understand the journal’s ethos, policies, training, and required information.
  • Create and improve content and features for the journal website.
  • Represent the journals at conferences and build relevant professional connections.
  • Raise journal visibility through blogs and social media.
  • Support BMC editorial colleagues with cover, shared expertise, and experience.

Prasības

  • PhD or equivalent in nursing, healthcare, public health, or a related field.
  • Interest in open-access publishing.
  • Interest in scientific research and current knowledge of a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of editorial processes and related matters.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Strong analytical and critical appraisal skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and represent BMC at external events.
  • Ability to respond to unusual or non-routine situations.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization, including balancing near-term deadlines with longer-term goals.
