Senior Java Developer – Brazil Remote

  • Develop and maintain complex Java applications and enterprise codebases
  • Reverse-engineer existing systems to assess architecture, dependencies, business logic, and technical constraints
  • Use AI-assisted tools for code generation, analysis, refactoring, testing, and documentation
  • Adopt structured AI engineering methods, including reverse engineering, Spec-Driven Development, and automated test generation
  • Modernize Java applications by removing or replacing legacy dependencies and outdated components
  • Create and enhance automated tests that support safe refactoring and modernization
  • Work with engineers and stakeholders to turn requirements and existing system behavior into maintainable technical solutions
  • Help define repeatable AI-assisted development practices for engineering teams
  • Uphold strong standards for code quality, maintainability, testing, and software engineering
  • Contribute to CI&T’s work helping large enterprises convert AI opportunities into business value

Reikalavimai

  • Demonstrated Java development experience, preferably with enterprise applications and complex existing systems
  • Hands-on background in Java application development, maintenance, refactoring, and modernization
  • At least 3 months of team-based experience using Copilot as the primary AI code-generation tool, or at least 6 months using comparable tools such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Antigravity, or similar
  • Practical experience with shared, structured AI development methods, especially reverse engineering or Spec-Driven Development
  • Hands-on experience applying AI-assisted methods to generate tests
  • Experience refactoring Java systems to remove or replace legacy dependencies
  • Ability to understand and work effectively within unfamiliar, complex codebases
  • Sound software engineering fundamentals covering clean code, automated testing, version control, and collaborative development
  • Clear communication and effective collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders
  • Java 17 or Java 21 experience is advantageous
  • Experience with SQL relational databases is advantageous
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases is advantageous
