FinOps Engineer, Cloud and Kubernetes Optimization

Allstate is hiring a remote FinOps Engineer in the United States to improve cloud and Kubernetes cost efficiency. The role combines automation, analytics, forecasting, and financial-management practices to help engineering and product teams control cloud spending.

Aprašymas

  • Assess cloud and Kubernetes usage to uncover idle capacity, inefficient workloads, anomalies, and savings opportunities
  • Work with engineering and product teams to assess recommendations, clarify projected impact, and help deliver improvements
  • Create scripts, API integrations, and reusable workflows that streamline analysis and connect cost and usage data
  • Produce dashboards, reports, forecasts, and spending insights that support cloud planning and financial decisions
  • Contribute to commitment planning, reservations, savings programs, and other cloud-efficiency initiatives
  • Strengthen FinOps adoption through standards, documentation, training, and tools that give teams ownership of cloud costs
  • Coordinate with cloud, Kubernetes, engineering, finance, architecture, and product stakeholders
  • Convert usage data into practical recommendations with measurable business and technical results

Reikalavimai

  • Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience assessing or improving cloud infrastructure, containerized applications, or Kubernetes workloads
  • Working knowledge of cloud billing, usage tracking, cost allocation, forecasting, or optimization methods
  • Ability to use Python or another scripting language for basic automation, API integration, data preparation, or systems connectivity
  • Experience analyzing data to detect trends, investigate problems, and produce clear recommendations
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical and financial topics to engineering, finance, product, and leadership audiences
  • Experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, technology business management, or cloud-cost optimization
  • Familiarity with Apptio Cloudability, VMware CloudHealth, Finout, Adaptive6, or native cloud cost-management tools
  • Experience with Kubernetes cost allocation, workload rightsizing, autoscaling, cluster efficiency, or shared-cost analysis
  • Experience with SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Datadog, or comparable analytics and observability tools
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, CI/CD, developer portals, or engineering automation
  • Exposure to unit economics, AI cost governance, token usage, model-selection economics, or FinOps Foundation practices and certifications
  • Successful completion of a background investigation
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; Allstate generally does not sponsor employment-based visas for this position
  • Reliable internet service with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
  • A dedicated, private workspace with suitable desk and seating, free from distractions
