  • Substantial backend engineering experience, especially with Python
  • Experience with Django is advantageous
  • Proven ability to design and evolve distributed systems at scale for millions of users or comparably complex workloads
  • Confidence evaluating technical choices across data modelling, service boundaries, APIs, networking, and infrastructure
  • Experience leading technical programmes across teams without relying on formal authority
  • Solid grasp of architecture, domain boundaries, data ownership, and organisational interfaces
  • A pragmatic approach to trade-offs, using domain-driven design and interface purity as means rather than ends
  • Ability to take ownership of unclear problems and contribute to product and design decisions
  • Motivation to mentor engineers and raise standards beyond your immediate team
  • Professional fluency in English
  • Interest in creating organisation-wide technical impact and shaping engineering evolution
  • Awareness of the potential and risks of AI-assisted workflows
