  • Recommend work assignments for typists based on documented facts
  • Help the department manager address questions about typist status
  • Answer staff questions about current guidelines
  • Meet department quality and production targets
  • Provide operational, project, and administrative support to the Court Reporter and Transcriptionist Department

  • High school diploma
  • Must physically reside in the United States
  • Must pass a federal background check
  • Demonstrated experience as a legal proofreader
  • Previous experience as a legal transcriptionist
  • Knowledge of legal terminology
  • Strong command of English spelling and punctuation
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Experience comparing audio recordings with written text
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods
  • Time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, WavePad, and Express Scribe
  • Familiarity with Word formatting, including margins, indents, headers, and footers
  • Familiarity with PDF tools for Word-to-PDF conversion, password protection, word-list creation, and line and page counting
  • Familiarity with Microsoft macros
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Strong communication skills, including asking clarifying questions
  • Experience working in a remote office
