WordPress Architect – Montreal Hybrid

Design scalable, accessible WordPress websites and applications for Evolving Web. Lead technical architecture, advise teams, and support high-impact digital projects.

Description

  • Partner with developers, designers, project managers, and clients throughout delivery
  • Define and architect technical solutions with internal and client stakeholders
  • Produce technical specifications and scope documentation for internal and client use
  • Guide and manage teams toward measurable project outcomes
  • Drive project success by coordinating requirements, schedules, and budgets with project managers
  • Deliver accessible, high-impact websites and applications for organizations and communities
  • Plan and facilitate technical workshops to clarify and refine project scope
  • Train technical and non-technical teams on delivered solutions
  • Create and present reports that explain solution details

Requirements

  • Bring more than five years of WordPress development and technical leadership experience
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of modern WordPress, including the block editor and block themes
  • Have experience delivering enterprise-scale projects
  • Architect large-scale solutions from detailed technical requirements
  • Participate actively in the WordPress community through contributions, plugins, documentation, WordCamps, or Meetups
  • Understand HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, caching layers, SQL, NPM, Webpack, Docker, DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, and managed platforms such as Pantheon or WordPress VIP
  • Optimize performance, diagnose bottlenecks, and design highly scalable WordPress implementations
  • Apply web application security best practices, especially for WordPress, and design secure architectures
  • Demonstrate experience with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams, including pre-sales scoping, estimation, and solution design
  • Facilitate technical workshops, prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, train varied audiences, and present solution reports
  • Have PHP development skills; Drupal experience is an asset
  • Advise and manage developer and designer teams effectively
  • Have experience using Redmine or JIRA
  • Communicate strongly in both French and English
  • Be available during Montreal business hours when working remotely
  • Use Slack comfortably, work independently, and communicate proactively
