Support Florida students with academic, social-emotional, graduation, and career guidance. Serve learners through a tuition-free online public school.

Description

  • Deliver proactive guidance lessons to individual students and groups
  • Address individual and group needs through responsive counseling and programming
  • Evaluate transfer transcripts and recommend appropriate course placements
  • Maintain current student transcripts and support accurate credit-award procedures
  • Develop and update individual graduation plans
  • Teach career-readiness content and guide students in developing career plans
  • Deliver social-emotional learning instruction
  • Develop and maintain Student 504 plans
  • Review student data to recommend suitable academic programs and interventions
  • Travel within Florida to assist with testing and school events when required
  • Complete additional duties as assigned
  • Collaborate with staff and families on student-specific academic programming and proactive, preventive services

Requirements

  • Bilingual ability is strongly preferred
  • Hold a valid state counselor license
  • Bachelor’s degree with one year of counseling or advisement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience applying the ASCA model
  • Experience with K-12 online learning environments
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and mandated reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products
  • Demonstrated ability to protect confidential information
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations and make evidence-based decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Customer-service orientation
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
