Traffic Engineer – Denver (Hybrid)

Lead traffic studies, roadway and signal designs, safety analyses, and intelligent transportation systems projects. Support Stanley Consultants’ transportation engineering practice in Denver.

Description

  • Lead traffic and safety projects as a project manager, project lead, or task lead
  • Develop traffic impact, signal warrant, intersection, safety, bicycle planning, and technical report deliverables
  • Create traffic signal design plans for new and modified intersections
  • Prepare construction sequencing, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and traffic control plans
  • Provide technical guidance and quality control for traffic engineering studies and design projects
  • Support traffic engineering teams across local and national practice areas
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers
  • Represent Stanley Consultants in technical discussions with agency staff, clients, and contractors
  • Develop practical technical solutions and innovative approaches to project delivery
  • Build strong client and staff relationships while addressing project needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering required
  • At least four years of relevant experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • Colorado Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire
  • Working familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and the AASHTO Green Book
  • Experience with DOT, county, municipal, and/or developer-led transportation and traffic projects preferred
  • Proficiency with SYNCHRO, HCS, SIDRA, VISTRO, and other traffic capacity and analysis software
  • Strong time-management abilities
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with traffic impact and operations analyses, design concept reports, corridor studies, preliminary traffic reports, safety studies, intersection design studies, safety action plans, vulnerable road user plans, Vision Zero, alternative design concepts, complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian improvement studies, mobility studies, and signal timing and coordination plans desired
  • Experience with traffic signal, ITS infrastructure, roadway lighting, signing and pavement marking, construction sequencing and traffic control, project specifications and estimates, and complete streets, bicycle, and pedestrian improvements design desired
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, VISSIM, CORSIM, ArcGIS, or AGi32 is a plus
  • PTOE or RSP1 certification is a plus
  • Membership in ITE or another professional organization related to traffic engineering
