Technical Design Manager – New York City Onsite

Lead apparel fit, pattern, and construction standards across Catalyst Brands. Develop technical designers and collaborate with design, product development, vendors, and factories.

Description

  • Direct team workload, calendars, and priorities across multiple brands
  • Apply technical expertise to preserve consistent fit and product quality
  • Determine when pattern blocks are required and implement them
  • Mentor and develop technical designers
  • Train the team in fit evaluation, balance, and proportion
  • Provide prompt, clear, and actionable feedback
  • Adapt workflows and action plans to changing business needs
  • Create, maintain, and apply pattern blocks to uphold standards
  • Partner with Design and Product Development on fit and aesthetic decisions
  • Maintain fit and construction standards for brand consistency and quality
  • Resolve and communicate fit and construction issues with International Buying Offices and factories
  • Maintain daily communication with IBOs, vendors, and cross-functional partners
  • Advance fit and quality through customer feedback reviews, competitive analysis, and fit symposiums
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate direct reports’ performance and development

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in patterns, fit, grading, and construction standards
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence and assertiveness when presenting fit evaluations
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing tasks, and meet deadlines consistently
  • Strong organizational ability and exceptional attention to detail
  • Effectiveness in cross-functional team settings
  • Proactive, solution-focused approach to identifying and resolving problems
  • Proficiency with Flex PLM, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Web PDM, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to oversee product areas, support direct reports, manage workload, and deliver on schedule
