Strategic Design Intern at Thales – Rungis

Six-month strategic design internship at Thales focused on aerospace and defense systems. Support user research, product strategy, prototyping, testing, and service design for land and air systems.

Description

  • Gather and interpret insights from interviews, observations, and benchmarking to identify end-user needs and behaviors
  • Assess business opportunities by connecting marketing, technology, and societal trends
  • Help build roadmaps that sequence and prioritize important initiatives
  • Develop basic mockups and diagrams, including opportunity maps and usage scenarios
  • Create visual materials in Figma or Penpot and strategic presentations in PowerPoint or Klaxoon
  • Plan, facilitate, and evaluate user tests and data-analysis activities
  • Record findings and lessons learned in approved deliverable templates and knowledge bases
  • Apply an understanding of defense and aerospace challenges to design work
  • Partner with engineers, product managers, and marketers to balance user, technical, and business considerations
  • Contribute to land and air systems projects from strategic framing through journey mapping and service or product design

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a four- or five-year Master’s program in strategy or design
  • Available for a six-month internship
  • Understand business, technology, and market considerations
  • Able to quickly grasp project issues in a complex industrial setting
  • Skilled in user research and qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Familiar with Design Thinking, ideation, prototyping, and user-testing practices
  • Have initial experience preparing, leading, or presenting collaborative workshops
  • Bring introductory project-management experience
  • Able to organize, schedule, and track several projects or workstreams at once
  • Proficient with at least one presentation or prototyping tool, such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, Figma, Penpot, or Adobe XD
  • Professional working proficiency in English at a minimum B2 level
  • Interested in AI, IoT, and emerging technologies
  • Curious about industrial settings, especially defense and aerospace
  • Highly attentive to detail when preparing deliverables and following instructions, processes, and security and cybersecurity requirements
  • Communicate clearly and proactively
  • Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and motivation to build skills in a technical environment
  • Able to prioritize tasks and provide feedback under tight deadlines
