Stock Controller – Neogen, Heywood, UK

Lead inventory governance, traceability, and physical stock programmes across Neogen Europe’s UK warehouse network. Support accurate manufacturing and distribution inventory control for food and animal safety operations.

Description

  • Coordinate physical inventory activities across Neogen Europe’s warehouse network, including annual stocktakes, cycle counts, and verification programmes
  • Set and maintain inventory control standards, processes, and practices that support accuracy and traceability
  • Track inventory performance, investigate variances, determine root causes, and implement lasting corrective actions
  • Control and reconcile raw materials, packaging, work in progress, and finished goods, including production issues, returns, receipts, scrap, and variances
  • Maintain inventory records, transactions, and controls in line with company standards and audit requirements
  • Serve as the inventory control subject matter expert and promote inventory excellence
  • Oversee stock movements and inventory lifecycle management throughout warehouse operations
  • Manage quarantined, damaged, obsolete, expired, and non-conforming inventory
  • Maintain batch, lot, expiry, and material traceability across production and distribution activities
  • Promote FIFO and FEFO practices throughout inventory operations
  • Collaborate with Warehouse, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to improve inventory accuracy, visibility, and control
  • Support audits, compliance activities, and projects related to inventory
  • Create inventory reports, KPIs, and Excel-based dashboards
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and influence stakeholders across functions and locations
  • Foster accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement across inventory operations
  • Identify ways to strengthen inventory governance and support the growth of Neogen Europe’s distribution network

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in inventory control, stock management, warehouse operations, or supply chain
  • Demonstrated stock control and inventory management experience in manufacturing, including inventory governance, material traceability, accuracy, and collaboration with Production, Supply Chain, and Quality teams
  • Experience leading physical inventory programmes, stock counts, or inventory control activities
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management practices and warehouse operations
  • Experience using ERP and Warehouse Management Systems
  • Understanding of production orders, bills of materials, material consumption, yields, scrap, and manufacturing inventory variances
  • Ability to work independently, resolve issues methodically, and deliver results with limited supervision
  • Proven ability to build processes, define standards, and implement operational improvements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause investigation abilities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate stakeholders at all levels to achieve operational objectives
  • Experience in a regulated sector such as life sciences, diagnostics, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or food is desirable
  • Experience supporting warehouse operations across multiple sites is desirable
  • Experience with Power BI or comparable reporting tools is desirable
  • Knowledge of Lean, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methods is desirable
